Brecon RFC - National Semi Finals

Brecon RFC

Fixtures Updates

We now have some confirmed information regarding important forthcoming fixtures in this History making season.

WRU Plate

Saturday 30th March (Neutral venue to be announced later this week.)

BRECON v PENALLTA

BONYMAEN v TREORCHY

There will be all sorts of conjecture as to whether this is a good draw for us or not. All we know is that we will now have to face our nearest rivals three times before the end of the season (twice in the league and once in the Plate). The first of those matches will be the semi final of the Plate on 30th March. Undoubtedly these matches will prove to be defining games in terms of our ultimate success over the whole of the season and if we are to attain our ultimate goal then we have to meet them and beat them so the Semi Final is perhaps as good a time as any.

We earned our place in the Semi Final with a hard fought win at Nelson on Saturday 2nd March, a report can be accessed via the link below.

WRU Plate Quarter Final - Nelson v Brecon

A week prior to the Semi Final we have an important league match at Parc de Pugh against fourth placed Pontypool United. This will be a tough encounter and it will prove to be  dilemma for many Brecon supporters as you will see from the details below.

WRU Youth Cup Semi Final

Saturday 23rd March at The Wern Merthyr Kick Off 2:30pm

BRECON YOUTH v MORRISTON YOUTH

In spite of a long history the Club has never previously featured in a National Semi- Final on any kind. This year we are involved in two. The Youth team have done exceptionally well to reach this stage of the competition after beating one of the favourites, Pontypridd, in the quarter final. The team are in good heart particularly after a great league win against Abercynon on Saturday by 31 points to 10. The win means that they are unbeaten to date in the Tier 2 Premiership Blues League with 2 wins and a draw under their belts. They had some good support at home on Saturday particularly considering the clash with the Plate Quarter Final. Hopefully the support for the team can be even better when they play Morriston and to that end a Supporters bus will be available for transport to Merthyr. (Details below)

A Supporters Bus will leave the Club at 1:15pm and will return with the players bus after a stop on route. Anyone interested in travelling on the bus should add their names to the list on the Club Notice Board. A Charge of £5 per person will be collected on the bus.

2nd XV - Rhondda and East Glamorgan Cup

Saturday 23rd March at Parc de Pugh Kick off 2:30pm

BRECON 2nd XV v SENGHENYDD 2nd XV

Along with our 1st XV and Youth the 2nd XV are having an outstanding season. Unbeaten to date in the league they now embark upon their own Cup journey. Their opponents in this Preliminary round match are Senghenydd the only side to hold our seconds so far this season. On January 15th at Senghenydd honours were even as the sides fought out a 15 points to 15 draw. This then is a big match for our young second team who I am sure wish to emulate the Cup success of both the 1st XV and Youth.

What a feast of rugby there is in store for Brecon teams and their supporters. I hope you all can all be part of it and help drive us forward to even greater success.
